Doug was a happy, loving, adventurous child and grew up to be a true leader and motivator. He was inclusive, kind, and friendly. Doug always showed respect and compassion to all and believed that everyone has value and purpose. He was extremely smart, honest, and hardworking, and was a team player.
As he advanced in his own career and studied at the University of Michigan, Doug also made time to help his brother with his business. People would gravitate towards Doug because of his genuine ways and big welcoming smile. He was always forgiving and even tempered.
Doug knew what he wanted in life. He set goals for himself and, as he accomplished them throughout his young life, he looked forward to setting new ones. Just before his murder he had completed his MBA and was ready to continue to excel even faster at his job with Ford Motor Company.
Family was always very important to Doug, and he wanted us to always be together. Doug was preparing to marry his high school sweetheart and eventually come home to New York to start a family of their own.
He was analytical and logical but also fun and playful, aware of the latest trends in fashion, music, social media platforms, etc. As a child he asked many questions, especially if something didn’t make sense to him. He had to be satisfied with the logic behind the thinking.
Doug was a very strong athlete, both physically and mentally, and politely competitive. There wasn’t a sport he didn’t enjoy or excel at. In addition to athletics, in his junior year of high school he focused on accomplishing his vision of studying software engineering and business.
Doug's life was taken by someone without a vision or a care for human life. This gang member engaged in a ruthless and violent shoot-out on a crowded street. He had no concern about who or how many people he shot and killed that night. This was a tragic waste of my son's life, and part of all of us died with him that day. He is no longer here to help make a positive difference in the lives of the thousands of people who would have been lucky enough to meet him throughout his life.
As a family without Doug we try to stay strong, and every family will explain their pain differently. For me it’s shattered glass, and every step is extremely painful and empty. But we live on with the blessings of our memories with Doug.Choose this theme to customize and add content to this page.
